This week’s posts have been about children—our two new house guests, the boys they are mentoring and how children are fresh air to the stale world.
Here are two verses to meditate on over the weekend
“At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. (Matthew 11:25)
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3)
If God’s truth is revealed to little children, let us become like children so we may understand and thus enter God’s kingdom.

Hey Carol,
there seem to be a few virtues that we can learn from by focusing on these verses... to me being "like a child" as Jesus asks means we need to trust and believe in God and know that He has our best interests in mind (and in His hands). Also, our unconditional love can best be seen in a child's eyes. Those are the biggest ones to me. Thanks!!

I just got an email from my nephew who is a missionary in Africa living there with his wife and small children. As they have been living there for a couple years now, the children just accept the hardships of intermittent electricity, limited medicines and people dying as a result, and no air conditioning as just a normal part of life. Yet here if we had those problems we would be enraged. I'm now trying to live in acceptance of God's graces as a child like those children do.
@ Chris - what a great insight about children accepting hardships as part of life. You're right about us grumbling and complaining when our luxuries aren't as luxurious as we expect them to be.
