MORE PRAYING NAMES

Every month I create prayers based on the names of people we love. This ongoing list of names and prayers can be found at the top of this blog, on the tab titled, “PRAYING NAMES.”

Dillon; Dylan: son of the sea; born from the ocean 

Heavenly Father, I pray that Dillon will live the meaning of his name. I pray that he will recognize the vastness and depth of the ocean and be reminded that you, Jesus, are the true living water. I pray that he will accept that gift of living water so that he will never thirst for anything but you. Amen. 

Dustin: Brave warrior  

Heavenly Father, I pray that Dustin will live the meaning of his name. I pray that he will be a brave and mighty warrior in your army; that he will live his life as a soldier for your truth; your salvation and your glory. Amen.

Jenna: Heaven

Heavenly Father, I pray that Jenna will live the meaning of her name. I pray she will live her life with a view to eternity; that she will remember that Heaven is her true and eventual home. I pray also that through her life, others will get a glimpse of your glory and a taste of the heavenly realm. Amen.

Zoe; Zoey: life

Heavenly Father, I pray that Zoe will live the meaning of her name. I pray that she will embrace this one and only earthly life you have given her and will use her time on earth to glorify you. I pray also that she will accept your gift of eternal life and encourage others to come to salvation through you. Amen.

Allison, Alison, Alice: of nobility

Heavenly Father, I pray that Allison will live her name. I pray that she will be reminded that because of Jesus, she is an adopted daughter of the King. I pray that she will live her life, knowing that the King of the Universe died because he loves her. I pray that others will see her life as an example of Christ, the King. Amen.

Brooklyn: one who lives near a brook

Heavenly Father, I pray that Brooklyn will live her name. I pray that she will seek the living water of Christ and that she will be a source of Jesus’ love to everyone around her. I pray that, like the deer who panteth for the water, her heart will thirst for you. Amen.

Israel: God prevails

Heavenly Father, I pray that Israel will live his name. I pray that he will understand the greatness that is you; that you will prevail in all things and that Israel, too is strengthened when he relies upon you.

Shayla, Sheila: her gift

Heavenly Father, I pray that Shayla will live her name. I pray that she will recognize the gifts you have blessed her with and that she will use them to their full potential and for your glory. I pray also that her life will be a gift of joy to those around her. I pray especially that she will understand the depth of your gift of love, grace and mercy and will share the knowledge of that gift to others. Amen. 

PRAYING NAMES

As some of you know, I research the meaning of names. Then I create an individual prayer that a person would live the meaning of their name. After I post them here, I move them to the permanent ‘PRAYING NAMES” page at the top of this blog.

Please email me or leave a comment with names of loved ones you would like to pray for. Then join me in praying for our loved ones by praying the meaning of their names.

Lynn: from the lake

Heavenly Father, I pray that Lynn will live her name. I pray that she will live her life as if she is continually baptized in your holy, living water. I pray that she will know your living water as a deep, cool and clear lake. I pray that she will then take your water of life and share it with those around her, who may not know your love and grace.

Martin: God of war

Heavenly Father, I pray that Martin will live his name. I pray that he will become a soldier in your army, fighting evil and protecting the innocent in your name. I pray also that he will be obedient to your leading as commander in chief of his life.

Taryn, Tarin: of the earth (terra)

Heavenly Father, I pray that Taryn will live her name. I pray that she will live, knowing she is of this earth but that her eternal home is with you. I pray that she will remember her heavenly home and set her sights on you in all things. 

Wyatt: son of guy

Heavenly Father, I pray that Wyatt will live his name. I pray that he will remember that he is your son, your child and that he will live his life in a God-honoring and obedient way.

PRAYING NAMES: A FEW MORE

As promised, I am adding new names to the list of names so that we can pray for people we love based on the meaning of their names. Here are five new names. If you missed my post last week, learn what this is about.

BRANDON; BRENDON: broom hill

Heavenly Father, I pray that Brandon will live his name. I pray that he will trust in Jesus to sweep his heart clean and maintain his life in a manner pleasing to God. I pray also that just as the woman in Luke swept the house and searched until she found the lost coin, that Brandon would never stop seeking God. I pray also that Brandon’s life will be an example to help others find the treasure that is you. 

CARLA, KARLEN, CARLY: strong; free

Heavenly Father, I pray that Carla will live her name. I pray that she will be strong in her faith in you and that she will understand the freedom she has in Christ. I pray also that her strong faith will be an example to others who will see Jesus through her and seek Him themselves.

JENNIFER, JENNY, JENI, GINNY, JENA:  Smooth, white wave

Heavenly Father, I pray that Jennifer will live her name. I pray that her life will be smooth, without storms at sea or rough waters. I pray that she would ride on the living water of Jesus and trust that He will keep her afloat. I pray also that Jennifer would be a route for others to travel on their own journey to Jesus.

KIMBERLY, KIM: The meadow of the royal fortress

Heavenly Father, I pray that Kimberly will live her name. I pray that she will live a life of royalty, knowing that she is the daughter of the King. I pray that she will look to you to be her strong fortress. I pray that she will lie down in the sweet, restful meadow of your love. I pray also that her life will reflect her faith in you and that she will be a strong, yet restful source of encouragement to others.

RICHARD, RICH, RICK, DICK, RICARDO: Powerful Leader

Heavenly Father, I pray that Richard would live his name. I pray that he will be known as a godly man who leads others to your salvation. I pray that he will be strong in his faith. I pray also that he will understand and rely on you as the one true leader of his life.   

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, continue to show us ways we can pray for the people in our lives. We thank you for prayer and for your assurance that you hear and know the concerns of our hearts. Amen.
